Exciting New Gemini Features Set to Launch on Google TV

by admin

On Wednesday, Google unveiled a series of new AI-driven features for Google TV, which will include a dedicated feed for YouTube Shorts directly accessible from the home screen.

A key highlight of the update is the enhanced capabilities of the Gemini platform. Users will find a “Create” button within the Gemini tab that allows them to explore generative AI tools such as Nano Banana and Veo. Initially, these tools will be available on Gemini-enabled TCL TVs in the U.S., with plans to extend support to more devices in the future.

Nano Banana is a tool for image generation and editing that responds to voice commands, enabling users to modify photos effortlessly. Popular requests can include changing outfits or backgrounds, making it a fun, interactive experience for families. For instance, users can prompt the AI with amusing requests, such as dressing up a family member in a funny costume.

In contrast, Veo lets users fabricate unique clips from scratch or animate still images by describing various scenarios. For example, a user might want to create a video of their grandfather performing a moonwalk in space.

Moreover, Google Photos is receiving significant upgrades as well. With Gemini-enhanced search capabilities, users can easily find specific memories—like vacations or special celebrations—without sifting through their entire photo library. Search results are presented in an easily browsable format, facilitating full-screen viewing or slideshow launches. The new “Remix” feature allows for the application of artistic styles, such as watercolour or oil paintings, enhancing the visual charm of personal photos.

Another exciting addition is the “Dynamic Slideshows,” which include animated effects and colourful frame treatments. Users can transform any collection of photos into a lively, TV-ready slideshow by selecting the Google Photos setting within the screensaver options.

In addition to these features, Google is responding to the rising demand for short-form video content. Soon, a new section titled “Short videos for you” will be showcased on the Google TV home screen, primarily featuring content from YouTube Shorts. This shift aligns with YouTube’s recent initiative to enable users to hide Shorts on mobile, highlighting a varied appetite for short video formats. However, Google suggests that the “Short videos” feed may extend beyond Shorts to include clips from other platforms, similar to how Instagram incorporated its content into Google TV devices earlier in the year.

With these advancements, Google is aiming to enrich the Google TV experience, blending creativity and convenience while embracing current trends in media consumption.
