Google is enhancing its services with new features aimed at simplifying summer travel planning. Announced on Friday, the updates incorporate its AI capabilities, allowing users to check item availability at local stores and track prices for specific hotels directly in its search platform.
With the latest upgrade in AI Mode, Google can now reach out to nearby stores on your behalf to check for specific items. Initially available in Search last November, this feature is being rolled out in the United States over the coming weeks. Users simply need to articulate their needs—for instance, “I need clip-on polarized sunglasses that fit over my existing ones. Where can I find them nearby?”—and Google will handle the inquiries, providing the necessary details afterward.
In addition to this, hotel price tracking has been improved. While users previously could monitor prices at a city-wide level, the new update allows for tracking prices of specific hotels of interest. On desktop, users can search for a hotel by name and toggle on price tracking. Mobile users will find this option under the “Prices” tab following a search. Once activated, email alerts will notify users of any price fluctuations during their selected travel dates.
Google also shared insights on travel trends, revealing that popular international and domestic destinations for summer 2026 include locations like St. Maarten, Stockholm, Kansas City, Missouri, and Sarasota, Florida. Notably, there has been a significant surge in interest in AI-related travel assistance, with searches for terms like “AI travel assistant” and “AI concierge” up by 350% over the last year. Moreover, queries such as “how to use AI to find flight deals” and “AI flight booking” have seen increases of 350% and 315%, respectively, highlighting a growing dependence on AI tools for travel planning.
These innovative features demonstrate Google’s continued investment in artificial intelligence to enhance user experience, making travel planning more convenient and efficient.
