Google Launches Gemini Personal Intelligence Feature in India

by admin

On Tuesday, Google announced the rollout of its Gemini Personal Intelligence feature in India, enabling users to link their Google accounts—such as Gmail and Google Photos—to obtain tailored responses from the AI. This allows users to query Gemini for personal insights, like asking “What are my travel plans for Jaipur?” to retrieve relevant information from their emails or photos. Gemini will also consider recently viewed YouTube videos for context, providing a more comprehensive answer, and it will cite sources for users to verify any details if desired.

Initially, this feature will only be accessible to users subscribed to the AI Pro and AI Ultra tiers. However, Google plans to extend availability to free users in the near future. The introduction of Personal Intelligence to India marks a significant expansion of Gemini’s functionality in a key market. This feature first appeared in the U.S. in beta earlier this year and was later made accessible to all U.S. users in March. Furthermore, it has already launched in Canada and Japan.

Despite its advanced capabilities, Google advises users that Gemini may sometimes misinterpret context or draw connections between unrelated topics. For instance, the AI might deduce a strong passion for golf from a collection of photos at a golf course, overlooking the fact that the user was there for a family event. If users find such assumptions incorrect, they can correct Gemini by simply stating their preferences.

Google is rapidly deploying advanced AI features to Indian users, who represent one of its largest markets. Earlier this March, the company introduced Gemini in Chrome for Indian users, and just last week, it facilitated the AI-driven booking of restaurants through partnerships with platforms like Zomato, Swiggy, and EazyDiner. This swift expansion signals Google’s commitment to enhancing its services in India, leveraging local partnerships for improved functionality.
