Waymo Extends Its Autonomous Vehicle Pickup Service to Phoenix Airport

by admin

Waymo announced on Tuesday its plans to offer continuous, around-the-clock service for direct curb pickups and drop-offs at terminals 3 and 4 of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, marking another stride in the Alphabet subsidiary’s journey to widen its robotaxi offerings. 24/7 access

Since initiating autonomous rides to the Phoenix Airport in November 2022, initially connecting passengers only to the airport shuttle area at the 44th Street Sky Station, Waymo has progressed to providing curbside pickups and drop-offs. This move places them in direct competition with conventional driver services including taxis and ridesharing platforms like Uber and Lyft.

Demand for Waymo’s robotaxi airport transport service has been high. As of this week, Waymo disclosed that it is on the brink of exceeding 100,000 round trips to and from the airport since the commencement of this service towards the end of 2022.
