Volkswagen Introduces Its ChatGPT Assistant Across the United States

by admin

Volkswagen is embarking on a journey to integrate its ChatGPT voice assistant into its American market vehicles.

At CES 2024 announced in January, the German vehicle manufacturer revealed its intention to equip all its models that feature the IDA voice assistant with an AI-driven chatbot. Initially, this upgrade did not include the United States.

However, Volkswagen has now decided to offer its ChatGPT-enhanced Plus Speech voice assistant, a product powered by Cerence’s Chat Pro and a sophisticated language model from OpenAI, across its new vehicles in the U.S. This expansion starts on September 6 with the launch in the 2025 Jetta and Jetta GLI, as well as the 2024 ID.4 models that come with an 82-kWh battery pack. The innovative Plus Speech feature, enriched with AI capabilities, will be gradually implemented in most 2025 models as they make their debut.

Note: Acquisition of a subscription is mandatory to access the Plus Speech feature, though purchasers of the ID.4 and ID Buzz will be granted three years of complimentary service.
