Vercel’s CEO Guillermo Rauch Indicates IPO Preparedness Amid Revenue Boost from AI Agents

by admin

Many startups founded before the rise of ChatGPT are grappling with the need to adapt to the emerging AI landscape, but Vercel, a developer tool and website hosting platform that’s been around for a decade, is thriving amidst the surge of AI-generated applications.

At the recent HumanX conference in San Francisco, Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch highlighted the transformation in app deployment capabilities, noting how, in the past, only a limited number of individuals could launch applications. Today, he claims practically anyone can create an app. This shift towards accessibility has significantly boosted Vercel’s business as the non-developer community embraces app creation.

Vercel’s annual recurring revenue (ARR) has seen remarkable growth, jumping from $100 million in early 2024 to an anticipated run rate of $340 million by the end of February 2026, according to reports from The Information and Forbes. With such impressive numbers, Rauch addressed inquiries regarding potential IPO plans, indicating that the company operates with a public corporation’s discipline, remarking, “Vercel is very much a working public company.” He acknowledged the challenge of providing a precise timeline for an IPO, stating that the company continues to prepare for the eventual launch.

While 2026 was initially projected to be a promising year for IPOs, anxiety over AI disruption has left the tech market cautious, stalling many public listings outside of notable names like SpaceX and OpenAI. The successful public offerings of these companies may reignite investor interest in the IPO market.

Though many tech executives are remaining tight-lipped about their IPO ambitions, Rauch has made it clear that Vercel is poised for public transition. He stressed that the market for infrastructure services is vast and still expanding, declaring that it has “no ceiling.” Vercel aims to become the leading hosting platform as AI becomes more central to app development.

He pointed out that AI agents are increasingly responsible for app deployment, noting that about 30% of the applications on Vercel’s platform are already generated by such agents. Rauch predicts that these AI-driven agents will hasten software production, offering more convenience in creating custom solutions rather than acquiring pre-existing software.

Vercel’s last valuation was pegged at $9.3 billion following a $300 million Series F funding round led by Accel in September. Competing against established players such as Cloudflare and Amazon Web Services, Vercel also features a coding tool named v0, aimed at simplifying the web and app creation process for developers.

In summary, Vercel is strategically positioned to leverage the rising tide of AI applications, positioning itself as a key player in the future of software deployment and hosting.
