Tonal Unveils Upgraded Strength Training System Featuring Enhanced Hardware and Innovative Workouts

by admin

In the years following the pandemic, the connected fitness industry has faced its share of challenges. Significant players like Peloton and Mirror have encountered difficulties, yet niche companies like Tonal continue to thrive. During CES 2025 on Wednesday, the San Francisco-based company unveiled its latest strength training solution, aptly named Tonal 2.

Fundamentally, this new system retains the essence of its predecessor, which debuted in 2015: a wall-mounted workout bench equipped with integrated weight bars.

The updated design features a modern black and chrome aesthetic, along with a sturdier frame. Tonal has also upgraded its built-in camera and claims that the cables are now “75% stronger” compared to previous versions.

This system now accommodates up to 250 pounds of resistance, automatically adjusting the weight depending on workout specifics. For instance, if it detects user fatigue, it will reduce the weight and ramp it up as strength improves. The internal motors have also been refined to ensure smoother exercise sessions.

Additionally, the enhanced camera “analyzes your movement patterns and delivers real-time coaching feedback akin to having a personal trainer—helping you train safely, enhance your form, and achieve superior results.” This is complemented by fresh HIIT (high-intensity interval training) routines.

In summary, while the nine-year evolution isn’t revolutionary, it may not justify an upgrade for many users—unless your original model has sadly come to its end. It’s encouraging, nonetheless, to witness a connected fitness company thriving amid the post-pandemic landscape.

The system is currently available for a price of $4,000.
