TikTok Accelerates Account Setup for Artists Who Are DistroKid Members

by admin

In a recent collaboration, TikTok has teamed up with DistroKid, a music distribution service, to streamline the process for creating artist accounts for its users.

Owned by ByteDance, the popular short-form video platform introduced a feature called Artist Account last year, designed to help musicians promote their latest tracks, their entire music portfolio, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content. Under normal circumstances, verification for this feature by TikTok could take as long as 30 days post-application.

However, TikTok is now enabling those subscribed to DistroKid at $22.99 per year to expedite their artist account creation to mere hours.

Phil Bauer, the president of DistroKid, highlighted the significantly reduced time frame now possible for artists to establish their official TikTok Artist Account via DistroKid, taking the wait from several weeks down to just a few hours. He remarked, “It’s now faster than ever for any artist to create their official TikTok Artist Account directly through DistroKid, reducing the process from weeks to just hours,” in a recent press announcement.

He continued to note the strengthened partnership opens up new avenues for DistroKid members by offering them special access to promotional tools and features on TikTok, which is renowned for its robust discovery mechanisms for new music.

This move follows ByteDance’s decision last October to allow independent artists to distribute their music directly on TikTok Music and the CapCut video editing application through their partnership with DistroKid.

While DistroKid enjoys a longstanding partnership with TikTok, it is noteworthy that ByteDance has also launched its own competing music distribution platform, SoundOn, in the previous year.
