Square Enables Merchants to Convert Portions of Daily Sales into Bitcoin via Block Integration

by admin

Leading fintech company Block, known for its popular products such as Square and Cash App, today unveiled a novel initiative that lets vendors utilizing Square’s payment solutions designate a fraction of their daily revenue for conversion into bitcoin.

This newly introduced service, launching initially in the United States, enables Square merchants to allocate between 1% and 10% of their day’s takings to be transferred into their Cash App account, where it will be converted into bitcoin by the day’s end. Participants in this program will be notified upon the successful conversion of their sales into bitcoin.

Block anticipates making this bitcoin conversion service available to individual entrepreneurs and sole proprietorships within the next few months. The firm will impose a 1% fee on each transaction. Furthermore, sellers have the flexibility to transfer their bitcoin holdings to different wallets or liquidate them through their Cash App account at their convenience.

“Block views bitcoin as a tool for economic liberation, offering everyone, including business proprietors, the opportunity to engage with the global financial ecosystem,” stated the company. According to responses from Square vendors, there is a keen interest in bitcoin, credited for its versatility in applications ranging from long-term investment to enhancing business portfolio diversity.

Inquiries to Block regarding the average outcomes and patterns of conversion amongst sellers revealed that the feature is still in its early pilot phase with a limited selection of merchants, hence comprehensive data is not yet available.

Block has been proactive in facilitating accessibility to bitcoin across its platforms. A notable example includes the integration of its Bitkey self-custodial wallet with Cash App and Coinbase, streamlining the process for users to trade bitcoin efficiently.
