With this latest update, premium subscribers in over 60 markets will be able to use voice commands to request specific songs or alter the mood of their playlists. While previously, listeners could only enjoy the AI DJ’s music selections paired with brief commentary, this new functionality introduces an interactive element that allows for greater user engagement.
Now, users can prompt the AI DJ to change genres, play music from particular artists, or adjust the overall vibe of their playlists using simple voice commands. To interact with the AI DJ, users can easily locate it in the search bar and press the designated DJ button at the bottom right to issue their requests vocally. Alternatively, for a subtle shift in mood without specific commands, tapping the DJ button is a convenient option.
This feature initially debuted in February 2023, tailored for listeners in the U.S. and Canada. Following its successful integration, Spotify made the AI DJ available worldwide in August 2023. Previously, the platform also introduced a Spanish-speaking AI DJ last year, expanding the range of its capabilities and accessibility.
In addition to voice-command features, Spotify has developed another significant AI advancement that allows users to generate custom playlists using text prompts. This integration of AI showcases Spotify’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance user experiences and streamline music discovery.
