SoundCloud Debuts Exclusive Merchandise Shop, Offering Artists a Platform to Design Their Own Merchandise

The music streaming platform SoundCloud has unveiled a new merchandise hub titled SoundCloud Store. This marketplace not only features SoundCloud-branded merchandise but also serves as a platform for musicians to launch their own merchandise lines.

Highlighting its inaugural collection, the store showcases pieces from notable artists such as Wiz Khalifa, Denzel Curry, wolfacejoeyy, Bk The Rula, and Armani White. Moreover, SoundCloud is collaborating with a selection of Next Pro artists — a subscription-based program for artists on SoundCloud — providing them the opportunity to share their own merchandise designs.

According to SoundCloud, artists who submit their design proposals will see the company generating mock-ups, manufacturing the merchandise, and featuring these items on the SoundCloud Store. Impressively, SoundCloud is also managing customer engagement and social media promotions for these merchandise offerings, without charging the artists any fees and allowing them to retain 100% of the profits from sales.

Other social media platforms are also creating avenues for artists and creators to market merchandise and generate revenue. Both Spotify and Amazon Music have introduced features enabling artists to sell their merchandise, with Spotify providing tools for artists to display their merchandise catalogs on their profiles, and Amazon Music partnering with Bandsintown to offer similar solutions.

Additionally, TikTok and YouTube have developed functionalities for creators to showcase products in their videos and benefit from affiliate sales programs.

Initially, the SoundCloud Store will be accessible to fans in the U.S., Canada, and Europe at its launch.

Throughout the past year, SoundCloud has launched a series of tools aimed at bolstering artist engagement with fans, including analytics for better understanding their audience and features that facilitate direct communication with fans.
