A new update has emerged following Wednesday’s Samsung Unpacked event. Adobe has revealed that the upcoming Galaxy S25 series will be the inaugural smartphones to implement the Content Credentials standard, which is designed to identify AI-generated content.
The Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), of which Samsung is now an official member, has defined this standard as a “nutrition label for digital content.” This labeling provides insights on the content’s creation and editing processes, indicating whether any generative AI technologies were involved.
This standard is being introduced amid growing concerns regarding AI’s capacity to spread fake news and misinformation. Initially applicable to still images, it will soon be expanded to encompass video, audio, and documents.
Users can access Content Credentials within an image by utilizing Adobe’s Content Authenticity tool, which is currently in its beta phase.
Alongside Samsung and Adobe, the C2PA includes prominent organizations from media, social media, AI, and hardware sectors, including Google, Intel, Microsoft, OpenAI, Amazon, BBC, Meta, Sony, Publicis, and Truepic.
The Galaxy S25 lineup is now available for preorder, with shipments scheduled to commence on February 7.
