Reddit Introduces Hindi Translation for Posts and Comments

by admin

In an effort to expand its presence in India, Reddit has enhanced its machine translation capabilities, allowing for automatic translation of posts and comments into Hindi. This enhancement aims to make more genuine, user-generated content accessible to speakers of one of India’s most widely used languages. Additionally, the platform has announced plans to introduce support for Bengali in the near future.

Reddit first began rolling out its machine translation feature in May, initially focusing on French and later adding Spanish and Portuguese as it launched across over 35 countries in September. Recently, the platform has also introduced its AI-driven search function, called Answers, to users in several countries, including India, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, and the UK. Prior to this, Answers was only available to a limited cohort of English-speaking users in the United States.

India is a key market for Reddit, and to bolster its growth in the region, the company has been actively recruiting staff in various areas, including community building, legal, engineering, and content roles. This recruitment drive reflects Reddit’s commitment to creating an engaged user community in India as it seeks to enhance its services and broaden its user base.
