Reddit Faces Temporary Outage for Users Around the Globe

by admin

On Monday morning, popular social media platform Reddit experienced notable service disruptions, prompting a surge of connection error reports from users. According to Downdetector, which compiles outage information, the issues began approximately at 11:20 a.m. Eastern Time, with over 90,000 users registering problems at the crisis’s height.

At 11:52 a.m. ET, Reddit acknowledged the situation via its official status page, indicating that it was investigating “elevated errors” affecting both the website and its app. Shortly after, Reddit’s team identified the root cause of the disruptions and by 12:10 p.m. ET, implemented a solution, monitoring the aftermath. By 12:21 p.m. ET, service was restored, and all systems were reported to be functioning normally.

A spokesperson for Reddit clarified that the disruptions stemmed from a temporary inability to access one of their databases, which subsequently led to the outage. The company acted swiftly to rectify the issue, enabling a prompt return to full operational capacity.

This isn’t the first time Reddit has faced such technical challenges; similar “elevated errors” were reported on three occasions in February and again just a few weeks prior to this incident.

As the situation unfolded, Reddit has committed to remaining transparent regarding its service status and has taken steps to mitigate future outages.

Stay tuned for further updates on this evolving story.
