Noded AI Aims to Place Your Notes at the Core of Your Professional Universe

by admin

Beginning with the common scenario of jotting down notes while engaging with clients as part of many people’s work routines, there frequently arises the need to consult a Salesforce customer profile or initiate a Jira ticket to address a client’s issue. This often leads to the cumbersome process of toggling between different applications, interrupting the flow of work to fetch additional information or complete separate tasks.

Noded AI, an emerging startup, is poised to revolutionize this process by integrating all necessary work tools within the note-taking interface, thus averting the need for switching tasks. The company has recently made its way out of stealth, securing a $4 million investment.

“Our aim is to transform the way note-taking is perceived and integrate AI along with a modicum of automated data science to place note-taking at the core of enterprise operations,” said Noded’s CTO and co-founder, Steve Wood, in a conversation with TechCrunch.

The name ‘Noded’ reflects an ingenious wordplay and the company’s view of notes as elements of a larger knowledge network. “Imagine notes as a graph; each piece of information is a node within this network. For instance, in a meeting scenario, I could easily access all relevant tasks and contextual data about the discussion, sifting through my notes across any timeframe,” Wood explained.

Within Noded, accessing required information without the need to switch between different programs is streamlined, because the platform automatically brings necessary apps to the user in the context of their ongoing work. “This integration essentially embeds your notes into your workflow. As you document your notes, Noded ensures they are directed into the appropriate systems, negating redundant data entry,” Wood further elaborated.

Wood, who previously contributed as VP of product and platform at Slack, emphasized that while Slack aimed to centralize work around communication, he believes leveraging notes provides much-needed context. He reflected, “One of the insights from my time at Slack was the importance of context. Without it, we were merely pushing alerts that more often than not, complicated rather than simplified tasks. By offering this context, we not only facilitate smoother work processes but also significantly reduce unnecessary noise.”

AI is instrumental in Noded’s strategy for efficiently linking notes with applications, and according to Wood, the technology need not be overly complex. “The current state of LLMs suffices for what we’re trying to achieve, acting much like a diligent assistant handling the monotonous tasks you’d rather avoid,” he commented.

Co-founder and CEO Chris Port, who previously worked alongside Wood at Dell Boomi before Wood’s tenure at Slack in 2020, shares this vision. “We’re just getting started. Since our launch in September and our dedicated development phase post-New Year, we’re now at our ‘Hello World’ moment as we introduce Noded,” Port announced. The start-up is currently engaging with early customers and anticipates launching a formal beta within the year.

The recent $4 million funding round was spearheaded by Boldstart Ventures, with contributions from Bessemer Venture Partners, 20VC, and First Hand Ventures. Notably, Slack co-founders Stewart Butterfield and Cal Henderson, along with Okta co-founder Frederic Kerrest, have also invested in the venture.
