Nancy Pelosi Condemns California’s AI Legislation as ‘Misguided’

In a recent declaration, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi voiced her opposition to California’s Senate Bill 1047, which aims to regulate artificial intelligence, through a published statement.

Pelosi highlighted that the consensus among her and other congressional members is that while SB 1047 is created with good intentions, it lacks a fully informed foundation. She also mentioned that Bay Area representatives, including Zoe Lofgren, Anna Eshoo, and Ro Khanna, have raised concerns, viewing the bill as detrimental rather than beneficial.

After undergoing recent amendments to mitigate issues raised by its critics such as AI organization Anthropic, the bill is now progressing to the Assembly in California for a decision.
