Meta AI Expands into the Middle East and Africa, Introducing Arabic Language Support

by admin

Meta has officially launched Meta AI in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, making the AI-powered chatbot accessible to millions more users.

In October, Meta revealed plans to introduce Meta AI in six new markets, including Brazil and the U.K. The company also hinted at a phased rollout for additional regions globally, including MENA.

Going forward, users in Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Yemen will have access to Meta AI. Additionally, the platform will expand its language offerings to include Arabic.

Users can engage the virtual assistant by tagging @meta in a chat within apps like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger (availability may differ by region) to get recommendations for nearby attractions or playlist suggestions for their road trips. Meta is also planning to introduce multimodal features in the MENA region, which will include tools like “Imagine Me,” allowing users to create stylish selfies, and audio dubbing features for Instagram Reels.

With this update, Meta AI is now accessible in 42 countries and supports 13 languages, boasting around 700 million users across its various applications, including WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and Facebook.

However, it’s important to note that the specific features available can differ from one market to another. For instance, in some European nations, Meta AI is restricted to general inquiries only on its Ray-Ban Meta AR glasses, owing to data protection regulations.
