The link-in-bio service Linktree disclosed on Thursday that it has successfully completed the acquisition of the social media planning tool Plann, with the financial terms remaining confidential.
Originating from Sydney, Australia, Plann will, for the time being, maintain its current operations. Nonetheless, Linktree plans to incorporate its social media scheduling features into its own suite in the near future. This integration will offer users the convenience of scheduling posts and automating publication across various platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram. It remains to be seen if Linktree will incorporate all the features from Plann, including the AI-driven caption generation functionality.
Linktree has not yet disclosed any pricing details for the forthcoming scheduling feature. Plann’s user base is expected to migrate to Linktree following the official release of these new capabilities.
Linktree announced that Plann’s entire workforce, counting both employees and contractors, will join its team. This includes founder Christy Laurence, who is set to become a permanent fixture at Linktree.
Linktree pointed out that the integration of social media scheduling has been highly anticipated by its users, who see it as a tool to simplify content management and time-saving.
“With 50 million creators and businesses using our platform, we recognize the pressures they face managing multiple projects. Our goal is to ease the process of audience engagement and management for them. Introducing social scheduling into our services will streamline content dissemination, enabling our users to focus more on what they are passionate about – creating,” remarked Linktree’s co-founder and CEO Alex Zaccaria.
This acquisition is the fourth for Linktree, following its investments in link-in-bio rivals Koji and Bento, as well as Odesli, a service that automates music link aggregation.
Earlier in the year, Linktree also introduced a beta version of its social commerce feature, enabling creators to embed storefronts on their link-in-bio pages and earn a commission of 12%-15% on sales.
Currently, Linktree boasts a user base exceeding 50 million.
