John Deere Acquires Technology from Alphabet X Spinoff, Mineral

At the start of this year, emerging reports highlighted Alphabet’s decision to shut down Mineral, its venture into agricultural technology robots. This move came as Alphabet’s subsidiary, Google, faced broader financial pressures. The decision was influenced by a saturated market and profitability issues, leading Mineral to transition towards licensing its technology.

In recent developments, Mineral’s CEO, Elliott Grant, publicly shared the previously undisclosed memo, revealing that agricultural heavyweight John Deere has integrated one of Mineral’s tech systems into its See & Spray precision agriculture equipment.

Grant mentioned in a publication, “Addressing the complexities of sustainable farming still lies before us. However, this effort resembles more of a relay race than a solo sprint.”
