On Friday, Apple introduced the initial developer beta of iOS 18.4, featuring a new option dubbed “Priority Notifications,” fueled by Apple Intelligence. This enhancement is designed to assist users in managing notifications more effectively by emphasizing crucial alerts while reducing the noise from less significant ones.
Priority notifications will be showcased in a distinct area on the device’s Lock Screen. Apple Intelligence will evaluate notifications to determine which ones should appear in this dedicated section; however, users still have the option to swipe up to access all notifications.
At present, the iPhone organizes notifications in chronological order, with the latest alerts appearing first. However, with the introduction of this new feature, essential notifications will take precedence, allowing users to spot important alerts sooner, even if they were received some time ago.
As reported by 9to5Mac, the Priority Notifications feature is disabled by default. To activate it, users can navigate to the Settings app, select “Notifications,” and then access the “Prioritize Notifications” section to enable the feature.
Additionally, Apple confirmed that Apple Intelligence will also be integrated into the Vision Pro with the release of visionOS 2.4. A beta version of this software is currently accessible to developers, while a public rollout is anticipated in April. Furthermore, Apple unveiled the upcoming Apple News+ Food section, set to allow users to search for and save recipes from a variety of News+ publishing partners.
