Hasbro, the American toy manufacturing giant responsible for popular franchises such as Transformers, Peppa Pig, and Dungeons & Dragons, has confirmed it is dealing with a significant cyberattack. The company announced that it may take “several weeks” to fully resolve the matter. In a legally mandated filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Hasbro disclosed that the intrusion was detected on March 28, leading to the shutdown of certain systems as a precaution.
To navigate the situation, Hasbro is implementing business continuity plans designed to maintain operations including order taking and shipping while they work to rectify the issue. As of Wednesday, parts of Hasbro’s website were reportedly down, displaying messages indicating ongoing maintenance.
The company has enlisted cybersecurity experts to assist with the situation, yet it is still rolling out measures to secure its operations, raising concerns that the hackers may still have access to their systems. The nature of the cyberattack, such as whether it involved ransomware, has not been disclosed. Hasbro’s spokesperson, Andrea Snyder, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to safeguarding its systems and data but did not provide additional information regarding the specifics of the attack or any possible communication from the perpetrators, including ransom demands.
Cyberattacks on large corporations have become increasingly common, aimed at stealing sensitive data and extorting funds, often resulting in substantial operational disruptions. Hasbro referenced the impact of such attacks, citing a previous incident at Jaguar Land Rover that led to significant production delays in 2025.
