Guidde Utilizes AI to Enhance the Production of Software Training Videos

by admin

Developing corporate training videos for software can be a labor-intensive process, particularly for organizations with numerous software licenses. While these videos can effectively onboard employees, the production demands can be overwhelming, often requiring the involvement of entire teams.

Yoav Einav, an entrepreneur from Tel Aviv, envisioned a more cost-effective alternative for creating software training videos. Partnering with his friend Dan Sahar, they set out to bring this idea to life. In 2020, their endeavor evolved into a startup known as Guidde.

Guidde harnesses AI to autonomously produce video clips that demonstrate how to use various applications. The process involves recording a user’s in-app actions and converting that footage into a video narrative.

Videos generated by Guidde can include an AI-generated voice in the preferred language, background music, and tags that emphasize key features of the software. Guidde also provides basic video editing options, including motion transitions, frame timing adjustments, and cropping.

One might ask: Do employees truly engage with training videos? It’s a valid concern. As reported by a 2019 survey by Kultura, 67% of employees admitted they do not fully focus on internal training videos; instead, they skim through them or multitask while listening.

Einav believes the issue is twofold. He stated that training videos often lack enthusiasm — the production quality is frequently subpar. Additionally, these videos tend to be hidden within complex user interfaces.

In response, Guidde has recently ventured into video recommendations with a feature called Guidde Broadcast, which offers personalized content to employees. Einav described it as a “Netflix for businesses” — a method of enhancing software interaction by supplying contextual, timely training content integrated within a user’s day-to-day tasks.

According to Einav, Guidde is experiencing substantial growth, with revenues quadrupling over the past year. The platform now supports more than 100,000 users from 2,000 organizations, including well-known companies like American Eagle Outfitters, Carta, and Nasdaq.

Recently, the 35-member team at Guidde secured $15 million in fresh funding, led by Qualcomm Ventures. This funding brings the total investments to $30 million and will be directed towards enhancing Guidde’s localization features, expanding enterprise sales and customer success teams, and growing their global market reach, according to Einav.

“We have managed to navigate challenges effectively and maintain a prudent approach to our finances — a strategy that has served us well so far,” he added. “We envision a future where our solution seamlessly integrates the creation and delivery of engaging, AI-driven video content. Our ambition is to pioneer this emerging category and establish the benchmark for intelligent, immersive content experiences.”
