Google is set to release its NotebookLM apps for Android and iOS on May 20, with pre-orders already available on both platforms. Initially launched in 2023, this AI-driven note-taking and research assistant has only been accessible via desktop, but the new mobile apps will enable users to take their notes and research on the go.
NotebookLM is tailored for students, professionals, and researchers, providing tools to grasp complex information more effectively. Key features include smart summaries and the ability to pose questions regarding uploaded documents. Additionally, the app offers a unique feature called Audio Overviews, allowing users to generate AI-driven podcasts that simplify intricate subjects.
The upcoming mobile versions will allow users to create and manage notebooks, upload new sources from their devices, and access their existing materials within each notebook. A noteworthy enhancement is the option to listen to previously generated Audio Overviews while mobile. The apps will also support devices like iPads and tablets, providing a larger interface for multitasking.
Users can pre-order the NotebookLM app on the App Store or pre-register via Google Play, receiving automatic downloads on launch day. Coincidentally, this launch aligns with the opening of Google I/O, where the tech giant is expected to elaborate on the apps and their features during the annual conference.
As interest in AI applications for education and research continues to grow, Google’s NotebookLM aims to bridge the gap between technology and effective learning, making information more accessible and digestible.
