Google’s I/O Developer Conference Scheduled for May 20-21

by admin

On Tuesday, Google announced that its annual developer conference will take place on May 20-21, 2025. The event is scheduled to return to its longtime venue, the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, just a short drive from Google’s headquarters, though travel times may vary based on traffic.

Over the course of two days, the conference will feature a blend of sessions aimed at both the public and developers. CEO Sundar Pichai will inaugurate the event with a keynote address on Tuesday morning, May 20, before transitioning to a series of smaller breakout sessions tailored for developers.

Last year’s conference was heavily focused on Gemini, Google’s generative AI platform, and there is no indication that this will change in 2025. With the rise of competitors like OpenAI and DeepSeek, Google I/O has increasingly concentrated on AI innovations over the past few years, and this trend shows no sign of slowing down.

For those eager for more information, the I/O 2025 website is now live, showcasing several developer resources from previous installments, which include Gemma, Google AI Studio, and NotebookLM.

The developer season is set to kick off energetically with Nvidia’s GTC, taking place from March 17-21, and will culminate with Apple’s WWDC in June. This year, Google will face tough competition from Microsoft Build, which is scheduled for May 19-22 in Seattle.
