Google Introduces New Gemini Capabilities and Unveils Wear OS 5 for Samsung Gadgets

by admin

In its latest Unpacked 2024 event, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6, along with its new Galaxy Watches. Concurrently, Google announced the introduction of innovative features for these devices across its various apps.

Google is enhancing its Gemini for Android application, optimizing it for foldable devices. The upgraded app introduces overlay and split-screen capabilities, which can be activated by swiping the screen’s corner or using the “Hey Google” voice command, potentially signaling a shift away from Google Assistant.

This latest Gemini app iteration for Samsung gadgets now supports querying about content being viewed on YouTube. These enhancements are set to arrive on the newly launched Galaxy foldable phones in the upcoming months.

Earlier in the year, at the Galaxy S24 launch, Google introduced the innovative “Circle to Search” function. Recent updates have expanded this feature’s capabilities to include solving symbolic math problems and the ability to scan barcodes and QR codes. The updated “Circle to Search” functionality will be expanded to additional models later in the year.

YouTube launched a multiview option for Android smartphones and tablets in May, allowing up to four YouTube TV streams to be viewed simultaneously. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 will support this feature, enabling users to mix and match streams like football, news, weather, or other sports events concurrently.

At this year’s Google I/O developer conference, Google showcased Wear OS 5, highlighting significant improvements in performance and battery efficiency. Following this, Samsung has confirmed that its Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra will be equipped with Wear OS 5.
