At the recent Google I/O 2025 developer conference, Google unveiled Flow, an innovative AI-driven video tool aimed at revolutionising the filmmaking experience. This new tool harnesses three of Google’s advanced AI models: Veo for video generation, Imagen for image creation, and Gemini for text and prompts.
Flow allows users to import existing characters or scenes or to generate new ones directly within the platform. Similar to Google’s previously launched VideoFX, which debuted under Google Labs last year, Flow aims to appeal to a broader audience, enhancing accessibility for creative filmmakers.
This cutting-edge tool boasts features including camera controls to adjust the angle and perspective within a scene, a scene builder for editing and directorial capabilities, and robust asset management tools. Additionally, Google plans to introduce Flow TV, a curated stream of video clips where users can explore the prompts and techniques others have employed, providing insight into various creative processes.
Amid rising competition from startups like Moonvalley, D-ID, Cheehoo, and Hedra, which are also delivering AI-enhanced video solutions, Flow signifies Google’s ambition to cement its presence in the application layer of AI-generated video content.
Initially available to users in the U.S. through the Google AI Pro and the new Google AI Ultra subscription plans, Flow offers pro users 100 video generations monthly, while Ultra subscribers will benefit from a higher limit, along with access to the latest offerings from Google’s video models.
With these advancements, Google demonstrates its commitment to empowering filmmakers with versatile, AI-assisted tools that simplify the creative process.
