Google Introduces Desktop Chrome With Gemini-Enhanced Search History and Lens Features

by admin

On Thursday, Google announced the integration of innovative features powered by Gemini into Chrome for desktops. These enhancements include Desktop Lens, a shopping comparison tool via tabs, and the ability to employ natural language for exploring search history.

After its mobile inception and subsequent enhancements, Google Lens is set to grace desktop platforms. It will roll out globally in the ensuing days, accessible from the address bar and within the options menu. Users can highlight a segment of a webpage to initiate further inquiries, generating relevant search outcomes.

Additionally, the feature allows users to click on images, for instance, analyzing a backpack, and employ multi-search for querying. This could unveil similar items across various colors or brands, with some queries prompting AI-driven Overviews in the responses.

Beyond shopping, this tool helps users discover specifics about plant care or aid in solving mathematical problems.

Furthermore, Google is unveiling Tab Compare, a shopping facilitator, over the next few weeks. This Chrome feature will synthesize AI-driven summaries of similar products viewed across multiple tabs, offering a consolidated view of specifications, features, pricing, and ratings.

A significant upgrade is the implementation of AI to navigate one’s browsing history with natural language. If you struggle to recall specific sites visited, only fragments, this feature, soon to be available for U.S. users to opt into, offers a powerful solution.

For instance, asking, “What was that ice cream shop I looked at last week?” Google’s AI sifts through URLs, titles, and page contents to retrieve relevant information.

Google emphasizes that data from these queries doesn’t contribute to Gemini’s training and remains absent in incognito session analyses. Due to current technological constraints, AI-driven history searches necessitate cloud processing.

Earlier in January, Google introduced AI-oriented features like awriting assistant, tab organiser, and theme generator. By May, it launched functionality fordirect chatbot queries from the address bar regarding Gemini.
