Every year, millions of packages fall victim to theft. DoorBox is reimagining package delivery with its innovative box, designed to be theft-resistant and equipped with live camera feeds, along with an alarm system that triggers automatically if any tampering is detected.
After successfully selling 2,000 units of its earlier manual version, the startup showcased its newest offering at CES 2025: the Smart DoorBox.ai. This advanced system features an AI-driven automatic unlocking feature that recognizes incoming deliveries, ensuring packages can be securely delivered even when the recipient is absent.
Kumar Sundaresan, the founder of DoorBox, established the company after personally enduring the loss of a cherished package, which contained his late father’s glasses and watch. This venture marks Sundaresan’s fourth entrepreneurial endeavor, following his involvement in three previous startups in the technology and online food delivery realms.

One of the key innovations of DoorBox is its robust steel cable, designed to be anchored to a doorknob or other fixed items. This cable is rated to handle over 800 pounds of pressure, making it extremely difficult to break, as per the company’s claims. In case of tampering, a powerful 125-decibel alarm is triggered and the user receives a notification via the mobile application. Additionally, users have the option to activate or deactivate the alarm through the app at any time, and the box can accommodate three to five medium-sized packages.
The mobile application not only receives alarm alerts but also functions as a live surveillance camera, enabling users to monitor their DoorBox when expecting important deliveries. Users can also lock and unlock the DoorBox remotely through the app.
The pricing for Smart DoorBox.ai starts at $400 for the metal variant and $300 for the plastic model, with an additional $20 monthly subscription fee for the app.
