Just four months after launching the impressively compact Neo, DJI has unveiled yet another miniature consumer drone. The Flip embodies the company’s ongoing passion for foldable designs, featuring a set of propeller guards that stack neatly for optimal portability.
This new model merges aspects of DJI’s existing consumer lineup, offering the “user-friendly experience of the DJI Neo along with the exceptional photographic capabilities of the DJI Mini,” as stated by the company. Priced at $439, the Flip is positioned closer to the Mini 3 ($419) than to the Neo ($199).
Clearly targeted at photographers and videographers seeking efficiency in their outdoor shoots, the Flip can record in 4K at 60 frames per second and offers 100fps for slow-motion footage. For still photography, it boasts an impressive 48-megapixel resolution with up to 4x zoom capabilities.

Weighing in at 249 grams, the Flip is the same weight as the Mavic Mini, making it noticeably heavier than the Neo, which tips the scales at just 135 grams. However, this added weight results in improved battery performance, with the Flip offering a runtime of 31 minutes per charge, compared to the Neo’s 18 minutes—an important uptick for those focused on video recording.
The Flip is equipped with auto-braking technology to prevent crashes at high altitudes and boasts enhancements in charging and data transfer rates. DJI has introduced a new Local Data Mode, akin to a smartphone’s airplane mode, which allows the drone to sever its internet connection while in operation.
The Flip will be available for shipping starting Tuesday in the U.S. However, the future of the company’s ability to maintain sales within the country over the next four years remains uncertain.
