Creators of Twitterrific Introduce a New Multi-Feed App Named Tapestry

by admin

In 2023, following Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, the platform restricted access to third-party applications, impacting clients such as Twitterrific, Tweetbot, and Fenix. On Tuesday, Iconfactory, the developer behind Twitterrific, is finally launching its multi-feed application, Tapestry. This innovative app enables users to integrate diverse sources like RSS, YouTube, Bluesky, Podcasts, Mastodon, Reddit, Tumblr, Micro.blog, GO Comics, and more into cohesive feeds.

Originally unveiled as a Kickstarter project in January 2025, Iconfactory raised over $177,000 through crowdfunding for Tapestry. Remarkably, the company did not seek investment from institutional backers to bring this project to life.

The app’s concept is to consolidate information from various online sources into a single platform.

Numerous platforms have surfaced in recent years, serving as content hubs. However, an application limited to functioning solely as an RSS reader or particular platform may fall short in addressing the breadth of these sources.

To address this, Tapestry supports various protocols from the start. The company uses connectors to gather content from different locations, allowing users to incorporate additional connectors created by other developers.

Users are able to bring in sources to the app and begin with a default feed. The app offers a variety of customization options, which include the appearance of the feed, font styles, and theme choices, as well as the format in which links open.

Users can also establish custom rules to block or skip particular content, such as spoilers.

A feature known as Muffle, adapted from Twitterrific, allows users to hide content that meets certain criteria not by removing them from the timeline, but by displaying them as a collapsed entry. This feature effectively allows users to temporarily obscure content without fully muting it.

Iconfactory ensures that all user data remains private and is stored locally on devices. The company also emphasizes that it does not sell or share user data with third parties.

The app is free for users, with additional features such as creating multiple feeds, removing ads, and customizing icons available through a subscription model.

Users can choose to subscribe for premium access at a rate of $1.99 per month, $19.99 annually, or a one-time fee of $79.99 for enhanced features.

The concept of gathering and storing information from multiple platforms has caught the attention of indie developers. For instance, Nate Parrott, an engineer with The Browser Company, created Feeeed, while Silvio Rizzi reimagined the popular RSS app Reeder into a multi-feed aggregator. Additionally, former Twitter engineer Joe Fabisevich introduced Plinky to simplify the storage and consumption of content across various formats.
