Streaming Apple Podcasts is now possible directly from any web browser. On Monday, Apple revealed that its Apple Podcasts service has been made accessible through major internet browsers including Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari, across more than 170 nations.
This enhanced web-based platform is designed to offer seamless access to podcasts via any web-enabled device. Previously, web users needed to find a show through a search engine and navigate to the Apple Podcasts Preview page to listen to episodes.
With the introduction of the new web interface for Apple Podcasts, listeners are now provided with functionalities once exclusive to the mobile app. This encompasses the exploration of millions of podcast shows, the ability to see recommended lists like Library and Top Charts, the option to subscribe to premium podcasts, and more. The integration with Apple Accounts facilitates the synchronization of listening sessions, allowing users to pause and resume podcasts across devices, check their subscriptions, and keep track of favorite shows. Those without an Apple Account are still welcome to browse and listen through the web platform.
Apple Podcasts now expands the eco-system of web-based podcast players, joining the ranks of entities like Castbox, Podbay, Podcast App, and Podurama, as well as major music services like YouTube Music, Amazon Music, and Spotify.
Podcast enthusiasts who prefer web access over downloading another application are expected to welcome this update. Moreover, this web access enables podcasters to disseminate their content more broadly by sharing links directly to episodes, shows, and their channels, thereby attracting a larger international audience.
