In a recent announcement, Amazon has become the latest entity to implement a price increase for its music streaming subscriptions. This week, the company disclosed that the monthly fee for the Amazon Music Unlimited Individual plan for Prime members will rise from $9.99 to $10.99.
For those subscribers who do not hold a Prime membership, their subscription cost will increase from $10.99 to $11.99 per month. Additionally, the Amazon Music Unlimited Family plan will now be priced at $19.99 monthly, representing a three-dollar increase from the previous rate of $16.99.
These pricing adjustments align Amazon’s music streaming service more closely with Spotify, which raised its Premium plan price from $10.99 to $11.99 last June. Currently, Amazon’s and Spotify’s individual plans exceed the cost of both YouTube Music and Apple Music, which are available at $10.99 each. Nonetheless, Amazon continues to offer a one-dollar discount for its Prime members.
In a statement regarding the changes, Amazon Music indicated, “To provide you with even more content and features, we are updating the prices for select Amazon Music Unlimited plans,” as noted on an FAQ page.
The price revisions took effect on Wednesday for new customers who enroll in a plan. Current subscribers will observe the new pricing on their next monthly renewal date, which will occur on or after March 5, 2025.
Previously, in August 2023, Amazon raised the prices of its music streaming subscriptions. At that time, the company conveyed a similar message about the increase, emphasizing the aim to deliver “even more content and features” to its subscribers.
