Soham Mazumdar, co-founder of Rubrik, has launched a new data startup named WisdomAI following his departure in 2023. This innovative company focuses on AI-driven data analytics, capable of extracting insights from structured, unstructured, and even “dirty” data—data that contains errors or inconsistencies.
WisdomAI has recently completed a significant seed funding round of $23 million, spearheaded by Coatue and backed by investors including Madrona, GTM Capital, and The Anthology Fund. The platform is designed to empower business managers to ask direct questions about data, eliminating the need for traditional reporting processes that often involve multiple data analysts. For instance, a Chief Revenue Officer can quickly identify critical deals to focus on and understand the specific delays with minimal effort.
Mazumdar highlights WisdomAI’s efficiency, stating that it allows a CRO to access detailed insights with just a few keystrokes, compared to lengthy traditional processes involving multiple analysts. The platform’s capabilities extend to various industries; for example, an oil and gas client uses WisdomAI to monitor production by querying both structured data and field telemetry.
Although numerous analytics tools claim to employ AI for natural language questioning, WisdomAI differentiates itself through the expertise of its founding team, previously associated with Rubrik. The real strength of the platform lies in its accuracy, particularly in processing imperfect data, ensuring that it can generate reliable results from both structured databases and unstructured files.
Crucially, WisdomAI avoids the common issue of AI “hallucination,” where systems produce inaccurate or fabricated responses. Instead, it applies Generative AI (GenAI) solely for query generation while maintaining high data fidelity in results. If a query fails due to errors, it simply results in a lack of data retrieval, not false information.
The startup is already attracting notable clients, including ConocoPhillips, Cisco, and Descope, and collaborates with major cloud data services like Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Amazon Redshift, Databricks, and Postgres. WisdomAI can be adapted to any data storage ecosystem by learning the relevant query languages through log analysis.
In conclusion, WisdomAI aims to revolutionise business intelligence by offering a platform that simplifies data interactions, enhances accuracy even in messy datasets, and delivers valuable insights without the typical complexities associated with traditional analytics teams.
