Indian startup Rocket is poised to transform the decision-making process for product development by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI). Based in Surat, India, Rocket recently launched its platform, Rocket 1.0, which seamlessly integrates research, product development, and competitive analysis into a single workflow. This innovative tool generates comprehensive product strategy documents including aspects like pricing, unit economics, and market entry strategies.
As AI-driven coding tools proliferate—such as Cursor, Replit, and Claude Code—coding itself has become more accessible, leading Rocket’s co-founder and CEO, Vishal Virani, to note that “everyone can generate the code now.” However, he highlights a crucial gap in the market: understanding what to build. Rocket aims to fill this void by providing strategic guidance, stressing that operating a business is distinct from merely developing a codebase.
In preliminary testing of Rocket’s platform, TechCrunch discovered that it produces product requirement documents in a format akin to consulting reports, deviating from traditional coding tools that often concentrate on feature execution. However, the insights offered by the platform may derive from synthesising existing data—not all findings are based on independent verification, indicating that users should still verify the outcomes before making decisions. Users can rely on human assistance for problem-solving through the platform.
Rocket’s functionality extends to competitor tracking, allowing users to monitor changes in competitor websites and traffic patterns. This is supported by an extensive database of over 1,000 data sources, including information from Meta’s ad libraries and Similarweb’s API.
Rocket offers various subscription tiers, starting at $25 per month for application-building features and rising to $350 for a comprehensive platform that includes competitive intelligence. The $250 subscription provides users with the ability to generate two to three high-quality research reports akin to those from McKinsey, at a fraction of traditional consulting fees.
Following a $15 million seed funding round in September from investors including Accel, Salesforce Ventures, and Together Fund, Rocket has experienced rapid growth, increasing its user base from 400,000 to more than 1.5 million users across 180 countries. The startup reports an annual revenue per user of approximately $4,000 while achieving gross margins exceeding 50%. About 20-30% of Rocket’s clientele consists of small and medium enterprises.
Currently employing a team of 57, Rocket maintains its headquarters in Surat while also operating in Palo Alto, positioning itself strongly in the competitive landscape of technology and AI-driven solutions.
