Apple has unveiled a new application named Invites, aimed at simplifying the creation of personalized event invitations via an iPhone or web browser. This app serves as Apple’s take on Partiful, the popular invitation platform recognized as Google Play’s Best App of 2024.
With Invites, users can generate and distribute invitations, respond to event invitations, participate in Shared Albums, and compile event soundtracks.
To start crafting an invitation, users must have an iCloud+ subscription, priced at 99 cents per month. Nonetheless, anyone can RSVP, even if they lack an Apple Account or device.
In this guide, we will lead you through the steps of creating an event, adding a shared album or playlist, and sending your invitations to guests.
Creating an Event Invitation

You can create an event through the Apple Invites app on your iPhone or on iCloud.com. The steps are similar regardless of the platform you choose.
In the app, tap the plus icon in the upper-right corner to initiate an event. On the web, select “New Event” in the upper right.
Next, tap the “Add Background” option and select “Photos” to access images from your library. Alternatively, you can use the “Camera” option to snap a new image. Apple also provides a range of backgrounds to choose from.
Furthermore, you can utilize Apple’s Image Playground to create unique backgrounds. To access this feature, you need a compatible iPhone, such as the iPhone 15 Pro or newer.
After selecting a background image, tap “Event Title” to input the event name and customize the font style.
Then, click on “Date and Time” to specify when the event begins and ends, or mark it as all-day. Note that the weather forecast for the selected date will automatically appear in the invitation.
Continue by tapping “Location” to search or select a suggested place. You can input a custom location name, like “Emily’s House.” Adding a location will automatically populate an Apple Maps link in the invitation.
Lastly, you can add a description for the event using the writing tools provided by Apple Intelligence, if desired. Do note that this feature requires a compatible device.
Once your event is set up, tap “Preview” to review the invitation appearance before distributing it to your guests.
Creating a Shared Album or Playlist for Your Event Invitation

In addition to creating invitations, Apple offers two features to enhance your event planning experience.
First, you can set up a “Shared Album,” allowing attendees to upload photos and videos from the event, making it easy to relive memories later.
To build a Shared Album, tap the “Create Album” button. The album will initially share the event name, although you can modify it if preferred.
Additionally, an event soundtrack can be created by selecting “Add Playlist.” Attendees can contribute songs both before and during the event. An Apple Music subscription is required to establish a shared playlist, and like the Shared Album, the playlist name will default to the event name but can be altered.
Inviting Guests to Your Event

There are two primary methods for inviting guests to your event: sharing a public link or sending invites directly to specific contacts.
To initiate the invitation process, tap “Invite Guests.” If you opt for the “Messages” or “Mail” applications, you can send a direct public link through those platforms. Alternatively, you can use the “Share Link” option to share your invitation through any app found in your iOS share sheet. If needed, tapping “Copy Link” allows you to paste the invitation link anywhere.
To invite specific contacts, select the “Choose a Guest” option to search for a name or pick one from your contact list, then share the link with them.
Once the event is created and invites are sent, you can also provide a note visible to all attendees. This is useful for communicating changes to the event location or reminding guests to prepare for weather conditions like rain.
To send a note, select your event and click “Send a Note.” After composing your message, simply hit the “Send Note” button.
