In an effort to enhance its subscription offerings and entice more users to pay for its service, Snapchat is introducing new features for Snapchat+ subscribers, which include the ability to create AI-generated stickers directly in chats. Additionally, the platform will soon provide options for sending self-destructing Snaps.
Users of Snapchat+ in the U.S. can now craft and send personalized stickers that are created based on the content of their messages. To access this feature, simply begin typing in the chat bar and click on the sticker search icon to find an AI-generated sticker that reflects your text.
It’s important to highlight that Snapchat is not alone in allowing users to create custom stickers with AI; both Meta and Apple have also introduced similar functionalities.
This new feature expands upon a Snapchat+ offering launched in 2023, which enables subscribers to generate and share AI-created images based on text prompts. By incorporating custom AI-generated stickers, Snapchat is providing its subscribers with yet another tool to creatively enhance their chats using generative AI.

The introduction of this feature follows Snap’s recent announcement of an AI text-to-image research model for mobile devices, which is aimed at enhancing the app’s AI Snaps, AI Bitmoji backgrounds, and other tools in the near future. A Snap spokesperson shared with TechCrunch that, while this custom AI stickers feature is not yet utilizing the new model, there’s potential for future integration.
Regarding the new self-destructing Snaps, subscribers will have access to an innovative feature named “Snap Modes,” which provides new ways to engage with friends. Initially, Snap Modes allows users to send self-destructing Snaps that disappear if not viewed within a specified time frame.
Snapchat intends to introduce more Snap Mode options in future updates, although specific details on these features have yet to be revealed.

Snapchat is actively expanding its subscription service to draw in additional users, as Snapchat+ has proven to be a lucrative avenue for the social platform to enhance its revenue stream. In its Q4 2024 earnings report, Snap announced that it has reached 14 million Snapchat+ subscribers.
Snap CEO Evan Spiegel remarked that the “other revenue” segment—primarily derived from Snapchat+ subscriptions—experienced a remarkable 131% growth year-over-year. He stated that this segment concluded the year with an “annualized revenue run rate of well over $500 million,” during a call with investors.
