Tata Technologies, a firm specializing in technology and product engineering services and part of the Indian conglomerate Tata Group, has revealed that it has been the victim of a ransomware attack, prompting a temporary halt to some of its operations.
The company based in Pune stated on Friday that the incident impacted “a few of our IT assets,” while emphasizing that its client delivery services “remained completely operational and unaffected” during the ordeal.
“A thorough investigation is currently in progress with the assistance of experts to determine the underlying cause and to implement any necessary corrective measures,” the company noted in its filing (PDF) submitted to Indian stock exchanges.
Tata Technologies has not provided specific information regarding the attack, such as the identity of the ransomware group involved or whether a ransom payment was made.
Established in 1989 as a part of Tata Motors focused on automotive solutions and becoming an independent entity in 1994, Tata Technologies offers product engineering and R&D services to manufacturers in the automotive and aerospace sectors, as well as heavy engineering companies in 27 countries. According to the company’s website, it operates 20 delivery centers and employs over 12,500 people. More information can be found here.
In its efforts to enhance its global presence, Tata Technologies has acquired several engineering firms, such as INCAT International, Cambric Corporation, and Escenda Engineering, as it prepares for an IPO in India scheduled for November 2023.
