This Intruder Defense System Firing Paintballs at Unauthorized Guests

Doorbell cameras have become a common sight in households today. With the technology becoming more affordable and accessible, a growing number of individuals are opting for connected security solutions. However, there is one crucial function that these systems lack: the ability to shoot paintballs at people and animals.

Enter the Eve PaintCam, which presents a rather unique concept with its somewhat misleading slogan, “Safety Simplified.” Offering a total of four distinct models that play on this creative idea, the Slovenian team behind the camera launched both Kickstarter and Indiegogo campaigns before showcasing their innovative product at CES 2025 this week.

The promotional videos and media releases emphasize the system’s effectiveness against both human invaders and unwanted wildlife. The Eve, Eve+, and EvePro models are principally designed to target people, whereas the camouflaged Simba serves the primary purpose of deterring animals.

Depending on the selected configuration, this system incorporates various features such as pet detection, facial recognition, and animal identification powered by AI technology.

Additionally, a selection of projectiles (or paintballs) is available, including one infused with capsaicin—the compound that gives chili peppers their spiciness—which the company claims is “legal in most countries.” They also provide “special projectiles for particular animals,” as well as ones containing UV paint to assist law enforcement in tracking a marked intruder.
