RadioShack Makes a Comeback (Sort Of) at CES 2025

by admin

The 21st century has proven to be challenging for RadioShack. The once-preeminent retailer of electronic components struggled to maintain its footing against major competitors like Best Buy and the online sales giant Amazon.

In February 2015, the company was removed from the New York Stock Exchange and subsequently filed for bankruptcy within the same month. Later that year, RadioShack initiated the closure of nearly 2,000 physical retail locations.

Fast forward to 2023, Unicomer Group secured the global rights to RadioShack, a fitting move given that the El Salvador-based conglomerate oversees operations throughout Central and South America. During CES 2025 this week, the company shared insights into the implications of this acquisition for the U.S. market.

Seeking to leverage a once-respected name in technology, Unicomer is reintroducing the RadioShack brand through a range of consumer electronics. This new lineup includes items such as a Bluetooth speaker with RGB lighting ($58), a gaming chair ($250), headphones ($28), and a projector ($112).
