The cutting-edge Grok AI model, under Elon Musk’s xAI banner, is now capable of producing visuals on the X social platform. This feature, however, is exclusively available to X’s Premium and Premium+ subscribers.
Indications beneath the example images reveal that Grok leverages the FLUX.1 technology from Black Forest Labs for its image creations.
Initial outputs from the tool hint that there are presently no constraints on crafting images that include political figures with Grok. Nonetheless, considering the looming U.S. presidential race, it’s probable that xAI may introduce some restrictions to dodge potential legal and regulatory attention.
Additionally, Grok 2 mini has been rolled out in a beta version for premium members on X. Musk recently announced on xAI that Grok 2’s beta release was imminent.
A noticeable notification on the Grok page within X mentions “Grok 2.0 is released” linking to the announcement page. Yet, xAI’s page for Grok 2.0 still displays a “Coming soon” message, advising visitors to enjoy cat videos in the meantime. The exact release details remain undefined.

As of now, specifics on Grok 2’s features remain scant. Digital analyst Nima Owji conveyed that Grok 2 surpasses its predecessor in coding, composing, and news generation abilities. It’s worth mentioning that the original Grok model has faced criticism for inaccurate news summaries and other errors.
In the absence of restrictions on imagery, Grok might pose a risk for disseminating false information across X and beyond. There’s also an uncertainty about whether images crafted by Grok contain any AI-generated tags.
We’ve reached out to X for comments on their strategies to curtail misuse of the image generation tool and will bring updates upon receiving a response.
