At the Made by Google 2024 event, held this Tuesday, Google unveiled a novel weather application for its Pixel phone series. The app, leveraging AI, is engineered to deliver personalized weather forecasts. It makes use of Gemini Nano, Google’s dedicated AI model for mobile platforms, showcasing the application briefly during the event.
The newly introduced app promises an end to scrolling through endless figures to understand the weather forecast. Google has designed the app to be customizable, allowing users to tailor the information display to their preferences. For instance, if monitoring the UV index is a priority, users can simply position that specific tile in a more prominent spot within the app.
Featuring a vibrant design, the app includes an “AI weather report,” along with daily and hourly predictions, mirroring the functionalities of traditional weather apps but with a dynamic twist.
Speculation and details about the app had surfaced before the official announcement, revealing adjustable tiles for tracking conditions like humidity, wind speed, and air pressure—although it notably omitted a 10-day forecast feature.

Google announced that the Pixel Weather app would be pre-installed on all its upcoming Pixel 9 devices, which include models such as the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL, in addition to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
