With its recent acquisition of the AI-driven research firm Pluto Capital, Inc., investing app Robinhood aims to enhance its platform by introducing advanced AI functionalities for its users. Announced this past Monday, Robinhood stated that the integration of Pluto will enable the inclusion of advanced analytical tools that can swiftly pinpoint investing trends and opportunities, provide strategic investment guidance, and facilitate real-time optimization of user portfolios.
As part of the acquisition, Pluto’s founder Jacob Sansbury is set to become a member of the Robinhood team, though the financial details of the transaction were not revealed.
In his new role at Robinhood, Sansbury will be spearheading the effort to integrate AI technologies throughout the trading platform. This initiative will leverage Pluto’s prowess in data analytics to interpret market data through advanced LLMs (large language models), ensuring timely access to worldwide financial information and personalized user data. Such enhancements are expected to empower Robinhood investors to swiftly capitalize on emerging investment prospects.
Moreover, Robinhood intends to leverage Pluto’s capabilities to tailor investment strategies that align with the unique preferences and financial aspirations of each user. This individualized approach will take into account factors such as risk appetite, investment objectives, and past behaviors to craft personalized recommendations.
Thanks to the seamless integration with Pluto, Robinhood users will benefit from real-time notifications and insights, enabling them to make well-informed investment choices quickly and to fine-tune their portfolios for potentially better outcomes, as per Robinhood’s expectations.
Established in 2021, Pluto managed to secure $4 million in seed funding across various rounds, earning a pre-money valuation of $12 million, data from PitchBook reveals. The start-up had the support of firms like at.inc/, Switch Ventures, Caffeinated Capital, and Maxime Seguineau.
“It’s exciting to have Pluto and Jacob Sansbury joining the Robinhood team,” stated Mayank Agarwal, Robinhood’s VP of Engineering. “Their remarkable platform is well-respected within the financial services sector. The team’s profound AI knowledge and shared vision for financial inclusivity perfectly align with our objectives of providing AI-enhanced tools to our users,” he continued.
“Joining Robinhood presents a golden opportunity to further the mission of making financial services like wealth management and financial planning widely accessible through cutting-edge AI,” commented Sansbury. “I’m eager to contribute to the innovations at a company that has been a source of inspiration for me and countless others,” he added.
