On Monday, Anthropic, an AI research laboratory, announced a new partnership with Google and Broadcom aimed at enhancing its processing and computational capabilities for its Claude AI models. This updated agreement comes as demand for Anthropic’s AI solutions increases rapidly.
Under the new terms, Anthropic will broaden its utilisation of Google Cloud’s advanced tensor processing units (TPUs), which are specialised chips designed for AI tasks. This latest contract builds upon a prior agreement established in October 2025 that provided over a gigawatt of compute capacity. The newly available compute resources are expected to be operational by 2027. Although specific details were not disclosed, a recent filing by Broadcom indicates that the deal encompasses a substantial 3.5 gigawatts of computational power.
The majority of this increased computing capacity will be located in the United States and forms part of Anthropic’s extensive $50 billion investment plan in U.S. computing infrastructure. Krishna Rao, Anthropic’s Chief Financial Officer, highlighted that this partnership signifies a disciplined strategy in scaling the company’s infrastructure to accommodate the exponential growth in its customer base, allowing Claude to lead advancements in AI technology. Rao described the partnership as their largest compute investment to date, keeping pace with their extraordinary growth trajectory.
Despite facing some scrutiny from the U.S. Defense Department, which has labelled Anthropic as a potential supply chain risk, the company’s Claude models have gained significant traction in recent months, particularly among enterprise clients. Additionally, Anthropic recently completed a $30 billion Series G funding round, valuing the company at an impressive $380 billion.
As of now, Anthropic reported a substantial increase in its run rate revenue, currently standing at $30 billion, which marks a significant rise from the $9 billion reported at the close of 2025. Furthermore, the company has over 1,000 business clients, each spending more than $1 million annually.
In summary, this strategic alliance with Google and Broadcom not only aims to support the growing demand for Anthropic’s AI services but also reinforces its commitment to advancing AI technology through robust infrastructure investments in the coming years.
