Apple Boosts iPad Air Performance with M4 Chip Upgrade, Priced from $599

by admin

Apple has announced the launch of its newest iPad Air, which is now powered by the advanced M4 chip. This latest iteration is designed to offer enhanced performance, featuring an updated neural engine and increased memory, making it particularly suitable for artificial intelligence applications. The new iPad Air is touted to be 30% faster than the previous M3 version and 2.3 times quicker than the M1 model.

Despite these upgrades, the pricing remains unchanged, with the 11-inch model retailing at $599 and the 13-inch version at $799. Educational customers can benefit from a discount, bringing the cost down to $549 for the 11-inch model and $749 for the 13-inch variant.

The updated iPad Air features an 8-core CPU and a 9-core GPU, making it an attractive option for gaming and graphic design tasks. The device’s unified memory has been boosted by 50% to 12GB, while memory bandwidth has increased to 120GB/s, allowing for faster processing of AI models compared to older devices. Additionally, the 16-core Neural Engine is claimed to operate three times faster than that of the M1, facilitating the execution of on-device AI tasks.

Connectivity has also received an upgrade, with support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, powered by Apple’s new N1 and C1X connectivity chips. The dimensions remain consistent with previous models, measuring 9.74 x 7.02 inches for the 11-inch version and 11.04 x 8.46 inches for the 13-inch model.

Camera capabilities include a 12MP Center Stage camera at the front and a 12MP Wide camera on the back, maintaining compatibility with Apple’s accessories such as the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil.

Pre-orders for the enhanced iPad Air will begin on March 4 via Apple’s website and the Apple Store app, available in 35 countries and regions, with finishes in blue, purple, starlight, and space grey. Storage options range from 128GB to 1TB.

This launch is part of a broader rollout of new products this week, which also includes the new iPhone 17e and updates to the MacBook line. This timing coincides with the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, where competitors like Samsung and Xiaomi are unveiling their latest innovations. However, Apple opts not to participate in MWC, choosing instead to showcase its products at its own events, with hands-on opportunities in select cities.
