Truecaller Achieves Milestone: 500 Million Monthly Users for Caller ID App

by admin

Swedish caller ID application Truecaller has recently achieved a significant milestone, boasting 500 million monthly active users on its platform. This figure includes over 150 million users based outside India, with the country remaining its largest market, contributing to more than 350 million users.

In 2025, Truecaller saw a growth spurt, adding 50 million new users, effectively doubling its user base over the past five years. In fact, as of April 2025, the platform recorded over 450 million users, alongside more than 4 million subscribers to its premium services.

Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Truecaller, highlighted the necessity for services that assist users in managing spam, scams, and unwanted communications. He stated that reaching 500 million users emphasizes the increasing demand for such services and reflects the trust that users have in Truecaller to facilitate safer communication.

Truecaller is committed to enhancing its technology, focusing on providing features that protect users throughout the communication process. The company’s goal is to cultivate a safer and more reliable communication environment, with aspirations of reaching 1 billion users in the future.

Beyond its traditional caller ID functionalities, Truecaller has been diversifying its offerings. Recently, it introduced a feature allowing one individual to act as an administrator to end calls for family group members as a protective measure against scams. Additionally, the company is exploring the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to screen and manage calls.

In a recent discussion with TechCrunch, Truecaller mentioned its pilot program that leverages AI to detect potentially suspicious calls by monitoring and responding to keywords linked to scams, such as “digital arrest.” This tactic is often employed by fraudsters impersonating law enforcement to extort information or money from victims.

Despite its success, Truecaller faces challenges in India with the introduction of a new system known as Caller Name Presentation (CNAP). This system displays callers’ names as registered with their network providers, introducing competition for Truecaller’s existing identity verification services.

As Truecaller continues to innovate and expand its features, its commitment to user safety and trust remains at the forefront of its mission in the evolving landscape of digital communication.
