Google has launched the NotebookLM app for Android just ahead of its Google I/O 2025 event. Previously, this note-taking and research assistant, powered by AI, was available only on desktop since its introduction in 2023. The newly launched Android app enables users to take their note-taking on the go, with an iOS version anticipated to be released shortly.
NotebookLM is engineered to assist users in comprehending complex information through features such as smart summarisation and the ability to query documents and materials. Notably, the app offers ‘Audio Overviews,’ which provide AI-generated podcasts based on uploaded content, complete with background playback and offline support.
Users can create new notebooks, access existing ones, and upload documents directly from their devices. The app is designed with user comfort in mind, featuring both light and dark modes that adapt to the device’s system settings.
With the app’s launch coinciding with the significant Google I/O keynote, there is speculation that more details regarding its capabilities and features will be revealed in the upcoming presentation. Google continues to innovate by bringing its AI tools to mobile platforms, enhancing accessibility and usability for all.
