Companies are increasingly acknowledging the transformative power of artificial intelligence (AI), but many pilot projects struggle to advance beyond the testing phase into practical application. Gruve.ai, a startup established by the former team behind Rahi Systems, aims to facilitate this transition by leveraging AI to enhance service delivery.

Rahi Systems, an IT solutions company, was acquired by Wesco for $225 million in 2022. Traditionally, IT consultancies, such as Accenture, have offered tech implementation services, particularly for firms lacking skilled personnel. However, these services are often costly and reliant on human expertise, which can inhibit scalability.

Gruve’s CEO, Tarun Raisoni, expresses that the technology services sector has remained stagnant for the past few decades, but AI is set to disrupt this status quo. Gruve intends to revolutionise the traditional IT consultancy model by minimising reliance on extensive consulting teams through the utilisation of AI agents for repetitive tasks. Furthermore, the company proposes a consumption-based pricing strategy, charging clients based on usage rather than hourly rates.

Historically, venture capitalists have been hesitant to invest in IT services due to their dependence on human labour, which restricts growth potential. However, by integrating AI agents, Gruve is positioned to achieve impressive gross margins of 70% to 80%, surpassing the profitability of conventional tech consultancies, according to Navin Chaddha, a managing partner at Mayfield.

Gruve has successfully raised a $20 million Series A funding round, led by Mayfield, with additional contributions from Cisco Investments and other stakeholders, bringing their total funding to $37.5 million. Raisoni emphasises the importance of understanding a client’s unique business needs and workflows before implementing AI solutions. This initial phase involves working closely with clients to prepare their data for AI applications.

Once ready to deploy solutions, Gruve employs AI agents to manage a range of tasks, including security breach detection and facilitating the transition from on-premises systems to cloud-based CRMs. They collaborate with reputable technology vendors, including Cisco, IBM’s Red Hat, and Google, as well as numerous AI-native startups like Glean and Supervity.

In a distinctive approach, Gruve opts to charge clients only when delivered solutions are utilised, akin to a utility service. For instance, clients would incur costs only when the AI system identifies and analyses a security breach, promoting a model of efficiency and transparency.

Overall, Gruve.ai is set to reshape the landscape of IT consulting by harnessing AI capabilities, fostering greater accessibility, and facilitating smoother transitions of AI solutions into real-world applications.
