Chipolo’s Latest AirTag Rival Integrates Seamlessly with Both Apple and Google Tracking Networks

by admin

Chipolo, renowned for its AirTag-like tracking devices, has unveiled its latest product, the Chipolo POP. This new version distinguishes itself by seamlessly integrating with both Apple and Google’s lost-item tracking networks right out of the box, a departure from previous models that only supported one or the other.

This innovation aims to simplify consumers’ choices, particularly around gifting. Buyers can now purchase these devices without needing to determine if the recipient uses an Android or iPhone, thereby enhancing their appeal as presents.

Chipolo is among a select group of companies, including Tile, Pebblebee, and Samsung, producing devices similar to Apple’s AirTag. Unlike Tile, which built a tracking infrastructure relying on its app users, Chipolo opted to leverage the existing frameworks from Apple and Google. Tile, facing fierce competition from Apple, ultimately sold to Life360 in 2021 after struggling to maintain its market position.

The company has experienced impressive growth, selling over 4.5 million devices. Following the introduction of products compatible with Apple’s “Find My” network, such as the Chipolo ONE Spot and Chipolo Card Spot, it reported a 30% annual growth rate.

The Chipolo POP features practical enhancements similar to earlier models, like a phone-finding function activated by double-pressing the tracker, customizable ringtones, and a remote selfie shutter capability. The device’s Bluetooth range has been upgraded to 300 feet (90 meters), and it boasts a user-replaceable battery lasting up to a year.

Available in multiple colours including blue, black, green, red, white, and yellow, the Chipolo POP retails for $29 (approximately £30/€35) on Chipolo’s website and through Amazon.
