Salesforce Commits $1 Billion to Enhance AI Adoption in Singapore

by admin

Salesforce has announced a $1 billion investment in Singapore over the forthcoming five years, aiming to enhance the utilization of its artificial intelligence agent development platform, Agentforce.

According to Salesforce, Agentforce is designed to tackle Singapore’s persistent labor challenges and strengthen the nation’s workforce and businesses by creating “digital workforces” that synergize human efforts with autonomous AI agents.

This investment initiative follows a recent $500 million investment in Saudi Arabia as well as another $500 million in Argentina, further expanding the cloud software giant’s AI and cloud service offerings, including Agentforce.

Salesforce has been actively investing in Singapore for nearly 20 years, having established its first overseas AI research hub there in 2019. Among its clientele in Singapore are notable organizations such as Singapore Airlines, Grab, M1, FairPrice Group, and Ocean Network Express.

In a separate announcement, Salesforce revealed a partnership with Singapore Airlines to implement Agentforce, along with Salesforce’s AI layer, Einstein, in Service Cloud and Data Cloud, enhancing the airline’s customer case management systems. The two companies are also gearing up to develop AI solutions for the airline from Salesforce’s AI research hub.

Salesforce has been significantly focusing on AI developments. Reports indicate that the company is reducing its workforce by over 1,000 employees while simultaneously hiring around 2,000 new staff to market its innovative AI products.

Other major U.S. technology firms are also making significant investments in Southeast Asia. Recently, Amazon Web Services stated it will invest an additional $9 billion over the next five years in Singapore to enhance its cloud infrastructure and services. Meanwhile, Microsoft announced a $2.2 billion investment in Malaysia and $1.7 billion in Indonesia within the next four years.
