Prime Video Trials AI Dubbing for a Selection of Movies and TV Shows

by admin

On Wednesday, Prime Video unveiled its trial of AI-assisted dubbing for selected licensed movies and TV shows, as reported by the Amazon-owned streaming platform.

As stated by Prime Video, this pilot program will utilize AI-assisted dubbing in both English and Latin American Spanish, merging artificial intelligence with the expertise of human localization specialists to “ensure quality control,” according to company officials.

Initially, this feature will be made available for 12 titles that lacked dubbing options. Among these selections are the Spanish animated film “El Cid: La Leyenda,” the family drama “Mi Mamá Lora,” and the independent feature “Long Lost.”

AI-driven dubbing has seen a surge in adoption across the entertainment sector due to its ability to broaden accessibility for viewers. Many leading streaming services are now incorporating this technology.

For example, Deepdub, a company specializing in AI dubbing, counts Paramount+ as one of its clients. Additionally, YouTube has made substantial investments in this area, recently rolling out an auto-dubbing feature that empowers creators to translate their videos into several languages.

Prime Video already boasts several AI functionalities designed to enhance the viewing experience, including “X-Ray Recaps” that summarize entire seasons and episodes, as well as “Dialogue Boost,” which improves the clarity of dialogue that may be hard to hear.
